Since 1928 the Fromagerie Perreault in the French region of Mayenne angevine have been producing Le Vieux Pané cheeses. It is an extraordinairy soft cheese with quite a strong scent. It resembles a mild Munster but has a definite smooth character all of its own. A dairy work of art.
Tips: As always with soft cheeses, make sure you take it out of the fridge about 20 minutes before eating. Room temprature is best to get the full flavour. Oh and eat with the rind!
