There are biscuits and then there are biscuits. Molinetti are most definitely in the second category. In fact, we’d go as far as to say that these may be some of the best biscuits in the world. And yet their unassuming aspect do not prepare you for what is a most extraordinary taste experience. Mulino Bianco are pasta-makers Barilla’s cakes and biscuits branch. They have a huge variety of crunchy products but not all of them are Kosher. Only ones made in the factories of Novara and Castiglione are, so check on the packets before buying. Fortunately for us Molinetti are made in Castiglione. So why are these so special? They have a secret ingredient: Buckweat flour, also known as Saracen. Buckweat gives these otherwise plain biscuits a unique woody/nutty aroma that is hard to describe. Suffice to say that you will find it very hard to stop eating these. But that shouldn’t stop you from starting…
Tips: Dunk in your cup of tea for even greater tastebud pleasure. Also, seek out the other kosher Mulino Bianco varieties.
